Lesson Three

Skylight

1.The houses in the country only have a row of wooden windows in front of them.

2.On a warm sunny day, the wooden casement is opened, and light and air come in through the windows.

3.When there is heavy wind and rain, or it is in winter when the north wind whistles, the wooden windows have to be closed, and the room is as dark as a hole in the ground.

4.So the countryman opens a small square hole in the roof and installed a piece of glass, which is called “skylight”.
