Lesson Twenty-Four

The Wind Child

1. Mother Wind had a cute child.

2. The wind child had grown up, and he wanted to help people like his mother.

3. Mother Wind said: “Go to the fields where you can help people do many things.”

4. The wind child came to the field and saw a big windmill that was turning round slowly with the pumped water flowing intermittently.

5. He took a deep breath, puffed up his cheeks, and blew towards the windmill.

6. The windmill began to turn so fast!

7. The pumped water gushed and rushed to the field.

8. The seedlings drank enough water and nodded without a smile.

9. The wind child was very happy.

10. The wind child came to a river and saw many boatmen pulling a big boat.

11.They were bent over, sweating, and chanting “heave-ho,” but the boat moved very slowly.

12. He hurried over, breathed hard into the sails, and the boat quickly moved.

13.The boatmen laughed, and they thanked the wind child while putting away the rope.

14.The wind child thought: “It's really easy to help people do good things, as long as I have strength.”

15. With this thought, he came to a square.

16. A few children were flying kites there.

17. At the sight of this scene, the wind child went over and blew hard.

18.The kites swayed in the air and some even overturned.

19. After a while, the kites were blown away, and the children were very sad.

20. Being unaware of this, the wind child kept blowing in all directions.

21. By doing this, the wind child blew away clothes that people had hung to dry and broke the new trees planted beside the road….

22. People were angry and blamed him.

23. The wind child didn't dare help people anymore. He turned and pondered in the sky with grief: “If I help people do things, why do they blame me?”

24. The wind child went home to ask his mother.

25. Mother Wind said: “My child, it's not enough to do things with good intentions. It’s more important that what you do is really useful to others.”

风 娃 娃

1.风妈妈有个可爱的风娃娃。

4.风娃娃来到田野，看见一架大风车正在慢慢转动，抽上来的水断断续续地流着。

5.他深深地吸了一口气，鼓起腮使劲向风车吹去。

6.风车一下子转得飞快！

7.抽上来的水奔跑着，哗啦哗啦地向田里流去。

8.秧苗喝足了水，笑着不住地点头。

9.风娃娃高兴极了。

10.风娃娃又来到河边，看见许多船工正拉着一艘大船。

11.他们弯着腰，流着汗，“嗨哟，嗨哟”喊着号子，可是船却走得很慢很慢。

12.他急忙跑过去，对着船帆用力吹了口气，船飞快地跑了起来。

13.船工们笑了，一边收起纤绳，一边向风娃娃表示感谢。

14.风娃娃想：帮助人们做好事，真容易，只要有力气就行。

15.他这么想着，来到一个广场上。

16.那里有几个孩子正在放风筝。

17.风娃娃看见了，赶紧过去用力吹。

18.风筝在空中摇摇摆摆，有的还翻起了跟头。

19.不一会儿，风筝被吹得无影无踪，孩子们伤心极了。

20.风娃娃却一点儿也不知道，他仍然东吹吹，西吹吹。

21.就这样，风娃娃吹跑了人们晾晒的衣服，折断了路边新栽的小树……

22.人们都生气了，纷纷责怪他。

23.风娃娃不敢再去帮忙了，他委屈地在天上转着、想着：我帮人们做事情，为什么他们还责怪我呢？

24.风娃娃回家去问妈妈。

25.妈妈说：“孩子，做事情光有好的愿望还不行，还要看是不是真的对别人有用。”
