Lesson Twenty-One

The Fox Who Assumed the Tiger’s Power

1.In the dense forest, a tiger was looking for food.

2.A fox jumped past the tiger.

3.The tiger rushed over and caught the fox.

4.The fox turned his eyes toward the tiger, and he asked in a loud voice: “Dare you eat me?”

5. “Why shouldn’t I dare?”

6. The tiger was taken aback.

7. “God sent me to take care of the beasts. If you eat me, you will be disobeying God's order.

8. I will see how bold you are!”

9. The tiger was confused and released its paw.

10.The fox wagged his tail and said: “I will take you for a walk in front of the beasts to let you see my majesty.”

11. The tiger followed the fox into the depths of the forest.

12. The fox was full of confidence and shook his head and tail; the tiger was dubious and just glanced around.

13. The wild boars, deer, and rabbits in the forest saw the fox swaggering over in a different manner and were all puzzled.

14. They looked behind the fox and saw the big tiger!

15. All the beasts, big or small, ran away in fright.

16. The tiger believed the fox’s words.

17. Actually the tiger was deceived.

18. It turned out that the fox assumed the power of the tiger to scare the beasts away.

1.在茂密的森林里，有一只老虎正在寻找食物。

10.狐狸摇了摇尾巴，说：“我带你到百兽面前走一趟，让你看看我的威风。”

11.老虎跟着狐狸朝森林深处走去。

12.狐狸神气活现，摇头摆尾；老虎半信半疑，东张西望。

13.森林里的野猪啦，小鹿啦，兔子啦，看见狐狸大摇大摆地走过来，跟往常很不一样，都很纳闷。

14.再往狐狸身后一看，呀，一只大老虎！

15.大大小小的野兽吓得撒腿就跑。

16.老虎信以为真。

17.其实他受骗了。

18.原来，狐狸是借着老虎的威风把百兽吓跑的。
