Lesson Fourteen

What I Want Is the Gourd

1. Once upon a time, a man planted a gourd vine.

2. The slender vine was soon covered with green leaves, and a few small white flowers were blooming.

3. After the flowers fell, a few small gourds could be seen hanging on the vine.

4. Such cute little gourds!

5. The man came to see them several times a day.

6. One day, he saw some aphids crawling on the leaves, and he thought to himself that only a few insects were not harmful. 

7. He gazed at the little gourds and said to himself: “My little gourds, grow quickly, grow quickly!

8. If you could grown even bigger than pumpkins that would be great!”

9. A neighbor saw him and said, “Don't just gaze at the gourds. There are aphids on the leaves. Get them under control!”

10. The man thought that very strange and said: “What?

11. Why do I need to get rid of bugs on the leaves?

12. What I want is the gourd!” 

13. Within a few days, there were more aphids on the leaves.

14. The small gourds slowly turned yellow, and then fell off the vine one by one.

8.长得赛过大南瓜才好呢！”

9.一个邻居看见了，对他说：“你别光盯着葫芦了，叶子上生了蚜虫，快治一治吧！”

10.那个人感到很奇怪，说：“什么？

11.叶子上的虫还用治？

12.我要的是葫芦。”

13.没过几天，叶子上的蚜虫更多了。

14.小葫芦慢慢地变黄了，一个一个都落了。
