Lesson Eleven

Grape Valley

1. There is a place called Grape Valley in Turpan, Xinjiang.

2. Fruit is grown and produced there.

3. There are apricots in May; fragrant pears, peaches, and crabapples in July and August; and in August and September, grapes, the people's favorite fruit, are ripe.

4. Grapes are planted on the terraces on the hillside.

5. The dense branches and leaves spread out in all directions as if setting up a green pergola.

6. In autumn, large bunches of grapes hang under the green leaves. The grapes in red, white, purple, dark red and light green are rather colorful and beautiful.

7. If you go to Grape Valley at this time, the hospitable Uyghur folks will pick the sweetest grapes and cater you to the full.

8. Some of the harvested grapes are transported to the city, and some are removed to shady houses for raisin-making.

9.The shady houses are built on the hillside and look like  bunkers, with many small holes in the walls and many wooden shelves installed inside.

10. Bunches of grapes are hung on the shelves and use the flowing hot air to evaporate moisture and become raisins at last.

11. The raisins produced here are famous for their fresh color and sweet taste.

12. Grape Valley is really a good place.

7.要是这时候你到葡萄沟去，热情好客的维吾尔族老乡，准会摘下最甜的葡萄，让你吃个够。

8.收下来的葡萄有的运到城市去，有的运到阴房里制成葡萄干。

9.阴房修在山坡上，样子很像碉堡，四壁留着许多小孔，里面钉着许多木架子。

10.成串的葡萄挂在架子上，利用流动的热空气，把水分蒸发掉，就成了葡萄干。

11.这里生产的葡萄干颜色鲜，味道甜，非常有名。

12.葡萄沟真是个好地方。
