Lesson Ten

Sun Moon Lake

1. Sun Moon Lake is the largest lake in Taiwan Province of China.

2. It is situated in the mountainous area of central Taiwan Province.

3. It is surrounded by mountains and lush plants; there are many scenic spots and historical sites around it too.

4. Sun Moon Lake is deep with clear green water.

5. There is a beautiful island called Guanghua Island in the center of the lake.

6. This small island divides the lake into two halves. The northern half is like a round sun, called Sun Pool; the southern half is like a curved moon, called Moon Pool.

7. In the early morning, a thin mist floats over the lake.

8. The morning stars on the horizon and the little lights in the mountains are faintly reflected in the lake water.

9. At noon, when the sun shines brightly overhead,  the entire scene of the beautiful Sun Moon Lake and its surrounding buildings is clearly displayed in front of my eyes.

10. If it’s drizzling, Sun Moon Lake seems to be covered with gauze, and the surrounding scenery appears hazy just like a divine land in a fairy tale. 

11. The beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake has attracted many Chinese and foreign tourists.

日 月 潭

1.日月潭是我国台湾省最大的一个湖。

2.它在台湾省中部的山区。

3.那里群山环绕，树木茂盛，周围有许多名胜古迹。

4.日月潭很深，湖水碧绿。

5.湖中央有个美丽的小岛，叫光华岛。

6.小岛把湖水分成两半，北边像圆圆的太阳，叫日潭；南边像弯弯的月亮，叫月潭。

7.清晨，湖面上飘着薄薄的雾。

8.天边的晨星和山上的点点灯光，隐隐约约地倒映在湖水中。

9.中午，太阳高照，整个日月潭的美景和周围的建筑，都清晰地展现在眼前。

10.要是下起蒙蒙细雨，日月潭好像披上轻纱，周围的景物一片朦胧，就像童话中的仙境。

11.日月潭风光秀丽，吸引了许许多多的中外游客。
