Lesson Sixteen

One Minute

1.The alarm clock rings.

2.Yuan Yuan yawned, turned over and thought: I will sleep for another minute, just one minute, and I will not be late.

3.After a minute, Yuan Yuan got up.

4.He washed his face quickly, had breakfast, and went to school with his schoolbag on his back.

5.When he got to the crossroads, he saw the green light in front of him. He was about to go over, the red light was on.

6.He sighed , "I wish I were one minute earlier."

7.He waited for a while before he crossed the crossroads.

8.He ran to the bus at the station. Just before he arrived,the bus started to move.

9.He sighed , "if only one minute earlier."

10.He waited and waited, but there was no bus in sight. Yuan Yuan decided to walk to the school.

11.When he got to school, the class had already begun.

12.Yuan yuan, red in the face and head lowered,he took his seat.

13.Mr. Li looked at his watch and said, "Yuan Yuan, you are twenty minutes late today."

14.Yuan Yuan was very sorry.

4.他很快地洗了脸，吃了早点，就背着书包上学去了。

5.到了十字路口，他看见前面是绿灯，刚想走过去，红灯亮了。

6.他叹了口气，说：“要是早一分钟就好了。”

7.他等了一会儿，才走过十字路口。

8.他向停在车站的公共汽车跑去，眼看就要到了，车子开了。

9.他又叹了口气，说：“要是早一分钟就好了。”

10.他等啊等，一直不见公共汽车的影子，元元决定走到学校去。

11.到了学校，已经上课了。

12.元元红着脸，低着头，坐到了自己的座位上。

13.李老师看了看手表，说：“元元，今天你迟到了二十分钟。”

14.元元非常后悔。
