Lesson Ten

Fairy Tales on The Beach

1.The beach by the sea was our wonderland.

2.On the sand, we built a castle, raised a wall around the castle, and inserted some dry branches outside the wall. Those were our trees.

3.Someone said: “There is a fierce monster king living in the castle.”

4.Another one added: “He has kidnapped the beautiful princess!”

5.A third guy said: “Listen, the princess is crying in the castle!"

6.Just like that, we made up our own fairy tales.

7.In the blink of an eye, the castle we built by ourselves had become a magical den of monsters, and we became the warriors who would attack the den of monsters.

8.We discussed together how to conquer that castle.

9.Someone said: “I can fly a plane to bomb it.”

10.Someone else retorted: “There aren’t planes in this time period!”

11. I said: “We can dig tunnels, put gunpowder under the ground, and then blow up the castle.”

12. My approach was praised by everyone.

13.So, we sprawled on the beach, digging tunnels from all directions.

14.We dug and dug, until we finally reached underneath the castle, and then we pushed it up with our hands, and the castle collapsed.

15.We cheered for the victory, for blowing up the monster king, and for rescuing the princess.

16. But where was the princess?

17. Suddenly, I found my mother standing behind us, smiling at us.

18. I said loudly: “The princess has been rescued by us. She is here!

19. Here, here!”

20. I hugged my mother.

21. Everyone yelled and cheered together.

22. Really, for a moment, I even forgot that she was my mother!

5. 第三个小伙伴说：“你们快听，公主在城堡里哭呢!”

6.就这样，我们编织着童话。

7.转眼间，我们亲手建造的城堡成了一座魔窟，我们也成了攻打魔窟的勇士。

8.我们一起商量怎样攻下那座城堡。

9.一个小伙伴说：“我驾驶飞机去轰炸。”

10.有人反驳：“那时候还没有飞机呢!”

11.我说：“挖地道，从地下装上火药，把城堡炸平。”

12.我的办法得到了大家的赞赏。

13于是我们趴在沙滩上，从四面八方挖着地道。

14.挖呀，挖呀，我们终于挖到了城堡下面，然后用手往上一抬，就把城堡给轰塌了。

15.我们欢呼着胜利，欢呼着炸死了魔王，欢呼着救出了公主。

16.但公主在哪儿?

17.忽然，我发现妈妈就站在我们身后，微笑着望着我们。

18.我大声说：“公主被我们救出来了，救出来了!

19.在这儿，在这儿!”

20.我抱住了妈妈。

21. 大家跟着一起叫喊着，欢呼着。

22.真的，那时候，连我也忘记了她是我的妈妈!
