Army Life [the Tang Dynasty] Wang Changling Clouds on frontier have darkened mountains clad in snow; The town with Gate of Jade stands far away, forlorn. We will not leave the desert till we beat the foe, Although in war our golden armour be outworn.
Feeling at the Fence Door in An Cold Autumn Night [the Song Dynasty] Lu You The Long Yellow River rushes eastward into the sea, And the towering Huashan Mountain rises into the sky. The people of the Central Plains suffered under the oppression of the Hu people, They are looking forward to the northern expedition of Song Troop year after year.
Recapture of the Regions North and South of the Yellow River [the Tang Dynasty] Du Fu Tis said the Northern Gate has been recaptured of late; When the news reaches my ears, my gown is wet with tears. Gazing at my wife’s face, of grief I find no trace; Rolling up my verse books, my joy like madness looks. Though white-haired, I would still both sing an drink my fill. With verdure spring’s aglow, it’s time we homeward go. We will sail all the way through Three Gorges in a day. Going down to Xiangyang, we’ll go up to Luoyang. |
